– a modern, class A office building located in the capital of Poland’s
Silesia region – has earned Ghelamco’s third prestigious ecological
BREEAM certificate. In 2010, the Belgian developer obtained two
certificates for its Trinity Park III and Crown Square office buildings
in the capital, Warsaw. Ghelamco Poland received all BREEAM certificates
yet to be awarded to Polish projects.
"Year after year, Ghelamco goes out of its way to increase the quality of its investments and to provide its customers with a comfortable and functional office space,” says Jeroen van der Toolen, Ghelamco Managing Director CEE. "We appreciate that our efforts are being recognised by BREEAM specialists. In addition, as our projects are being evaluated, our scores keep on improving within the ‘VERY GOOD’ rating. Our first certified project, Trinity Park III, received 56,2%, a few months after, Crown Square obtained 58,68% and now Katowice Business Point scored even better with a high 61,02% result. These are exceptional achievements for post construction assessments.” The assessment that led to the latest certificate was made by Grontmij, a leading European consulting and engineering company and approved BREEAM assessor. BREEAM evaluates factors like sustainable management, energy and water consumption, air quality inside the building, the use of ecological materials, location, low waste levels and comfortable working conditions. The 17,000 sq m Katowice Business Point is one of the biggest and most modern office projects in Silesia. It is located in the Silesian capital’s city centre and close to Chorzowska Street, one of the most important regional roads. This class A office project was delivered in 2010. It is equipped with the latest technologies, including raised floors and suspended ceilings, large glazing enabling unlimited daylight access to the offices, as well as an expanded BMS (Building Management System), providing supreme work comfort to tenants. BREEAM is the most widespread and respected
European building certification method from an ecological perspective.
"So far, 19 Polish buildings have applied for certification, 7 of them
being Ghelamco projects. Until now, Ghelamco has been the exclusive
recipient of all BREEAM certificates awarded in Poland. We are very
proud of this performance and we will continue to design and construct
eco-efficient projects. We are convinced that our next investments will
