22:35 100 percent green energy at Rondo 1 in Warsaw
From January 2012, all power supplied to Warsaw’s Rondo 1 office
building will originate from renewable energy sources. In 2011 "green”
energy accounted for 10 percent of the total power consumption of Rondo
1. Rondo 1 is one of the ‘greenest' buildings in Poland. The building was awarded the prestigious LEED Gold certificate in the "Existing Buildings” category in February this year and subsequently on the basis of that accolade received additionally recognition at EuropaProperty‘s inaugural CEE Green Building Awards presentation, which took place in Warsaw at the Marriott Hotel on the 30th of November. The decision to choose renewable energy as the sole energy source is part of the continued efforts of the building’s owner, MGPA Europe Fund II, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and ensure Rondo 1 is one of the leading green buildings in Poland. "Our environmental concerns are part of our strategy of continuously improving the quality of the services we provide. While we do our best to meet the expectation of our tenants, we also try not to forget about the environment,” commented Karol Bartos, Country Manager – Poland, MGPA. The renewable energy used at Rondo 1 is generated by wind farms in the Suwałki region and is supplied by RWE Polska. Source: europaproperty.com
